My name is Rebecca Patton. I’m a freelance medical writer and founder of HEED Health Communications.

I’m currently unavailable for writing assignments, but would love to connect!

My expertise as a medical writer has been largely shaped by my career in sonography. This role has helped me develop a broad understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, human physiology and disease processes, and principles of interpersonal communication.

I strive to embody excellence and integrity, delivering thoroughly researched health content in a clear voice. Effective communication is vital to human health and flourishing, and I aim to help improve health outcomes through education and advocacy.

After graduating with a degree in Echocardiography from Oregon Institute of Technology, I began a dynamic career in healthcare. Over time, my interests evolved to include medical writing, data synthesis, medical ethics and emerging global health issues.

Education

Health education is vital to patients, providers, and the general public. As a medical professional, I have in-depth knowledge of current skills-gaps for providers within the industry, as well as an understanding of prevailing deficits in consumer health literacy.

Ethics

I am passionate about exploring emerging issues in the field of medical ethics and global health policy.

Data

Evidence-based research forms the foundation of high-quality medical care. Proper data analysis and synthesis is vital to deliver: safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable healthcare.
